THREE BOYS RAPED 13 YEAR OLD

Three young men who allegedly could not control their libido and supposedly had several bouts of sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old Junior High School (JHS) pupil in Takoradi, have been hauled before a Takoradi circuit court.
The pleas of the three, John Ackon alias Ekow, 17, Aaron Ofori, 23 and Armoo Leeward, 20, were not taken and the court, presided over by Kwesi Boakye, remanded them into prison custody to reappear on July 6, 2012 for hearing.
Prosecuting, Inspector Fuseini Yakubu told the court that the complainant in the case was the mother of the victim and a caterer at the Jubilee Oil Field at Cape-Three-Points but lived at West Fijai, near Takoradi.

He indicated that the suspects were caretaker, Senior High School (SHS) leaver and store attendant respectively.
He added that Ackon and Ekow lived about 50 metres away from the complainant’s house while Leeward lived at Holy Child Ridge at Kweikuma near Sekondi.
The prosecutor noted that on May 30, 2012, the complainant had information from two boys in her neighbourhood to the effect that her daughter had been flirting around because they sometimes saw her with boys at odd places and times in the vicinity when she had left for work at the Jubilee Field.
The complainant immediately called the victim and interrogated her. The 13-year-old girl initially denied the allegation but later confirmed that some boys in the area had been having sexual intercourse with her and mentioned the names of Ackon and Leeward as those who had been doing that.
The girl said the accused persons sometimes had sex with her in an uncompleted building and sometimes at the complainant’s house in the evening when the rest of her siblings were asleep and the mother had left for work.
The complainant became alarmed and took her daughter to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) office in Sekondi to lodge a complaint. Ofori and Leeward were subsequently arrested by the police.
During investigations, the accused persons admitted to the offence in their caution statement to the police. Ofori told the police that in the middle of 2011, Ackon lured the victim to their room which they shared as roommates, and had sexual intercourse with her.
The police therefore arrested Ackon and the victim identified him as the one who first had sex with her before the rest of the accused persons.
Leeward, having admitted to the offence, told the police that the 13-year-old girl was his lover and that they had been having sexual intercourse on several occasions and described the victim as a matured girl.
The complainant was issued with a medical form by the police to send the victim to the hospital for examination and endorsement.
The prosecutor noted that upon receipt of the medical form, which confirmed that the boys had had sex with the girl, the accused persons were charged with defilement and arraigned.
